The Citizen
Convenience Center offers Escambia County residents
and small businesses a more convenient way to dispose
of refuse, away from the active working face of the
landfill, keeping them safe from the traffic of heavy
equipment and commercial vehicles. The facility
maintains full-time personnel to screen waste and
to provide assistance and information.
Customers
of the facility are requested to separate scrap-metal,
freon-containing appliances, electronics, waste oil,
batteries, and household hazardous waste from other
refuse. The household hazardous waste and waste
oil collection areas are covered with dual spill control.
The household hazardous waste is collected, processed,
and transported off site for proper disposal.
Other separated materials are collected and processed
to area recyclers.
The design of the convenience center
allows for the collection and treatment of stormwater
runoff from waste containers and maintains grassed
areas and native trees to minimize asphalt and concrete
surfaces The landfill has plans to establish
landscape to provide butterfly and bird habitat as
well.
The convenience
center provides a safe, convenient, environmentally
and user-friendly place for county residents and small
businesses to responsibly dispose of their waste while
saving valuable landfill space and aiding in resource
conservation.
In addition
to the convenience center at the Perdido Landfill,

745 North Highway 99, provides services in Northern
