The
Public Safety Bureau is the County department
that never sleeps. Dedicated employees are
on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide emergency
services for Escambia County.
The
authorized budget for fiscal year 2006/07 is over
$20,000,000.00. Funding is received from several sources
which include 9-1-1 fees, EMS revenue, Animal Control
revenue, grants, traffic fine money and only about
16% from the County's General Fund (property taxes).

Already
this year, Resource Management has processed over 300 vouchers and requisitions and
daily manages the department's financial issues.
Animal
Control is averaging 2000 calls for service each month and 191 adoptions.
Emergency
Medical Services responds to a request for service
an average of once every 15 minutes.
Last year over 28,000 individuals
were transported by ambulance.
Dispatchers
from the Emergency Communications Center answer 9-1-1
calls an average of once every 3.5 minutes. They process over 190,000 non-emergency telephone calls and over 42,000 emergency dispatches to Fire and EMS.
Emergency
Management is not just around for hurricanes. The employees of this Division provide
training and planning guidance to individuals and
agencies throughout the County. Domestic
Security activities are coordinated through
this Division.
The Escambia
County TEAM is made up of more than 90 agencies and
has been recognized regionally and statewide for cooperation
and leadership during emergencies and disasters.
