In
addition, the Information Technology Department provides and supports
the Escambia County Network that connects all county
departments, Constitutional Officers and agencies
together for application sharing, the exchange of
information and coordination.
We support:
- 550 + personal computers
- A network with over 2,500 personal computers and
servers attached
- 1,500 + E-mail users
- 1,500 + Internet connections
The Information Technology Department is involved in two “businesses” — applications (delivering and maintaining) and operations (infrastructure).
- The Application Services Division is tightly coupled with the business, because it is responsible for the systems that drive its processes. The focus for this group is on developing and changing the applications needed to execute the business strategy.
- The Infrastructure Services Division is focused on managing the county’s IT infrastructure, delivering daily service in the most cost-effective and efficient manner that budgeting will allow.
Our budget
is just over $ 5 Million dollars. Our overall
goals continue to be better business processes and
decision making, easier knowledge exchanges, better
interactions with citizens, and to maximize the return
on information technology investment.
