Parks & Recreation

The Escambia County Parks & Recreation Department foresees itself as a progressive leader with multi-faceted responsibility in managing natural resources that range from the shores of the Gulf of Mexico to the rolling hills of our northern boundaries.

By seeking to improve the quality of life, image and services in Escambia County, the Parks & Recreation Deaprtment will be alert to opportunities to acquire, reclaim and preserve park, natural and open space resources and expand its recreational, cultural and educational programs.

The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for park and recreation facility planning, design and maintenance in compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations. Other responsibilities include:

  • Construction management and/or installation of public park and recreation facilities
  • Manage neighborhood park annual mowing activities.
  • Maintain and manage the performance of irrigation, plumbing, electrical and tree/shrub trimming, pruning responsibilities
  • Planning of repair and renovation of public parks and recreation facilities
  • Direction and supervision of day to day work activities of park maintenance personnel
  • Coordinating with Risk Management issues that involve the safe use of park users
