Environmental Permits

PROCEDURES FOR OBTAINING PERMITS:
Land Disturbance, Tree Removal, and Sand/Fill Permits are all addressed on the same application. All applications need a site address, property reference number, and contact information for the owner/agent for reference by staff. Each application should include detailed description of proposed activities on the property/parcel.

Applications need an original signature of the applicant and a site map or attached drawing of proposed activities. Applications are addressed in the order submitted and staff will contact the applicant if any additional information is needed concerning the project. At the completion of the permitting process, staff office will contact the applicant for permit pickup. Fees are required for permits and will be collected at time of permit pickup. All permits and staff comments must be kept onsite for the duration all of permitted activities.

PERMIT SUBMITTAL PROCEDURE:

1) Complete a Land & Tree Management Permit.

2) Staff will make a site visit to the parcel. Visits are scheduled in order of applications received. If the permit is for Sand, staff will compare the sample to the criteria for permitted sand to be placed on Perdido Key and/or Santa Rosa Island. If sand does not match criteria for placement, the applicant will be contacted and asked to submit another sample to for review.

3) Staff will determine if proposed activities are permittable under Escambia County’s Land Development Code (LDC).

4) If mitigation is required the applicant will be contacted and informed of the available options, which may include a mitigation plan.

4) After approval, the applicant is contacted for permit pickup and fee payment.
